Pedro Sanchez held talks yesterday with Irish premier Leo Varadkar in Madrid. During the lunchtime meeting they discussed similarities between both nations, and also the current status of Brexit negotiations.

The Irish Taoiseach was the first EU leader to meet the new PM since gaining power at the start of the month.
Mr Varadkar had been planning to meet Mariano Rajoy, however the meeting was rescheduled following the ousting of the PP government a fortnight ago.
