British Ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, has joined other members of the UK’s Spanish diplomatic mission and members of the local authorities to answer questions regarding Brexit, and the impact the UK’s departure from the EU will have on British residents in the country.
The meetings, held in Mijas and Manilva, were held on the same day as EU leaders approved guidelines for the negotiation of future relations with the UK after Brexit.
The Ambassador said he was pleased with progress so far, stating that British citizens living in Spain at the end of the transition period in December 2020 should not see any major changes to their rights.
The meeting was the latest to be hosted by Brexpats in Spain, a group of nearly 5000 residents across the country who wish to provide information for expatriates and also to ensure British citizens rights are protected post Brexit.
