New building restrictions are to be put in place in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, in an effort to slow down redevelopment of the area which was having a negative impact on the area.
Originally planned as a garden city with squares and gardens, building works have threatened many heritage buildings in the area.
The ayunament have now announced that licences for works in the are are to be suspended for a year, whilst an in depth heritage preservation plan is developed.
