The state visit by the King and Queen of Spain to the UK is to go ahead even though it coincides with the general election date, 10 Downing Street said yesterday.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are due to arrive in London for three days on June 6, two days before the election.
The original state visit had to be cancelled due to the political crisis in Spain last year. However a spokesman for the UK government said that the “visit itself goes ahead as planned.”
