The body of eight-year-old Gabriel Cruz – who went missing nearly a fortnight ago in Almería – has been discovered, Guardia Civil have announced.
The partner of the boy’s father has been detained by officers after the childs remains were discovered hidden in the boot of her car. She was stopped as she was driving through the vilage of Vícar, around 70km from the childs last known whereabouts of Las Hortichuelas.
Interior minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido, confirmed the news yesterday afternoon. He also went on to say that investigations were ongoing into the circumstances of the arrest.
Since the child’s disappearance on the 27th February, hundreds of people took part in searches to try to find the child. Now tributes are being paid by many to Gabriel’s family.
