Ten men who planned to carry out a jihadist inspired attack in Barcelona have been jailed for between twelve and eight years.
The cell were discovered to be planning to kidnap a person, and then behead them in the city centre of Barcelona in 2015. It’s understood they were members of the so-called Islamic State.
Mossos d’Esquadra conducted a major operation against the suspects, with a series of arrests as part of Operation Charon. The leaders of the cell have been sentenced to twelve years behind bars, the rest of the gang to eight years.
