Prime minister Pedro Sanchez has held a meeting with Catalan regional President Quim Torra,as part of the new Prime Ministers series of meetings with the heads of the country’s autonomous regions.
During the meeting, discussions turned to the contested independence referendum and declaration of independence. it’s understood both have agreed to find a political solution to the issues. In a statement afterwards, they announced that the bilateral State-Generalitat commission will meet for the first time since 2011.
The two and a half hour long meeting was held yesterday at the residence of the Prime Minister in Madrid. Catalan leader Quim Torra has invited Sanchez to Barcelona at any time to continue with political dialogue.
The pair also agreed to mark the first anniversary of the Barcelona terror attacks.
