The Catalan investiture debate has been scheduled for the 12th March – the Catalan speaker Roger Torrent has confirmed.
In a statement issued yesterday morning, the debate and vote for the next leader of the Catalan parliament will begin at 10am next Monday.
Jordi Sànchez, who has requested that he be released from remand to attend the debate, is the prime candidate to replace Carles Puidgemont, who resigned from his nomination last week.
For Sanchez to gain the position on the first vote, he requires an absolute majority in the chamber – at the moment, that remains questionable due to coalition in-fighting.
