A forest fire in Tenerife has been stabilised after emergency services spent three days bringing it under control in Granadilla.
Over 100 firefighters and forestry personnel were involved in tackling the blaze – the cause of which is unknown – which is understood to have destroyed around 350 hectares of forest and scrubland. Firefighting helicopters were involved in the effort – other aircraft which had been requested from Madrid were grounded after bad weather in the region.
Operatives from Gran Canaria as well as Seville were called in to assist in the first major forest fire of the year. People are being reminded to be vigilant of forest fires, and to report any concerns as soon as possible.
